Gilbert & Evelyn Miller
In 2010 Gilbert and Evelyn Miller donated some of their personal collection to the Society to help us open a museum. Gilbert personally set up the displays and labeled the items. After Evelyn’s death in 2011, Gilbert also donated her books pertaining to genealogy and history. They are located on the Evelyn Miller shelves in the main library. Evelyn’s maiden name was Rose. This collection contains 4 books on the Rose family and additional books on the surnames of Eversole, Feltner, Fields, Hamilton, Judd, Lewis, Mays, Posey, Reynolds, Roberts, Shepherd and Tankersly. This collection also includes other books of historical and genealogical nature.
Evelyn Frances Rose was born July 23, 1931 in Owsley County, Kentucky. She married Gilbert Miller September 10, 1952. She died July 28, 2011, in Lexington, Kentucky. The Millers lived in Richmond, Kentucky.
Gilbert was born March 4, 1932, at East Bernstadt, Kentucky to Ben and Mattie Miller. By 1935 the Miller family had moved to Richmond where Gilbert lived most of his life. Gilbert died November 26, 2021.
